The Fandom High Times, Volume 5, Eighth Edition

Dear Readers,
Dealing with gremlins is a fact of life in Fandom. Sometimes you get lucky and manage to get away without embarrassment or injury. But other times, you head out for a Friday night with your girlfriends, and somehow you end up dancing onstage at Caritas in your underwear. I honestly didn't know I was that flexible until I pulled off some of those splits while under the influence.
It is very important for everyone to remember that while someone's post-bite antics are funny, the aftermath when they return to their senses can be difficult. Besides, it's my belief that the person who laughs the most is usually the next one to get bit.
Enjoy the weekend, and try to watch out for anything with sharp teeth!

Putting the Fun in Fundraising
by Joan Girardi
This weekend Fandom will welcome back its illustrious alumni to raise funds to save the teal deer. As many of you know, the Fandom preserve is home to the largest population of teal deer in the world and the population seems to have dwindled over the past few years, likely due to their weakness for long and boring speeches.
This will not be the first time that Fandomites have come together to benefit the animals. In fact, a series of fundraisers were held, including a brunch organized by Angela Chase, Class of '07. When contacted by the Fandom High Times, Ms. Chase said that it is important for Fandom to protect the teal deer because "The teal deer only exist on this island, and they're vulnerable to anyone who can read out loud and hypnotize them. It's important that we keep fundraising to protect their habitat."
This reporter intends to be there and hopes to see many of you in attendance as well.
Performances on December 4th, 8th and 10th.

Cooking Made Easy
by: Hoshi Sato
This week, Fandom decided to give us overflowing eggnog. I don't know about you guys, but eggnog is not exactly my cup of tea. Here are plenty of other holiday drinks that don't come with the potential for salmonella.
Chocolate Milk Whip
Fill a tall glass with ice. Add 4 oz. chocolate milk and 2 oz. cold coffee. Top with whipped cream and garnish with shaved chocolate.
Hot Chocolate Butternut
Combine 2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps, 1/2 oz. Amaretto, and 5 oz. hot cocoa in a coffee mug. Stir well and garnish with a layer of whipped cream.
Winter Tropic
Add equal parts vodka, cranberry juice and strawberry margarita mix to cocktail glass.
Christmas Tree
In a shot glass, layer 1/3 oz. Creme de Menthe, 1/3 oz. grenadine and 1/3 oz. Irish Cream. Using a spoon to layer each liqueur without mixing them.
Winter Break
In a shot glass, layer 1/3 oz. Peach Schnapps, 1/3 oz. Banana Liqueur, and 1/3 oz. Southern Comfort.

The Tarot Journey for Beginners
by Eleanor Robinson

The Empress represents every kind of love, affection, sensuality, femininity, motherhood, fertility and creation. She is voluptuous, curvy, nurturing and caring. The Empress, cooks, bakes, keeps home, mothers you, and mothers everyone else. She cares about everyone, whether or not it is her business. She knows her role is at the centre of the family house. The Empress will decorate your house - choose the colours, the fabrics, the styles. She will do the complete makeover. The Empress creates. She represents the fertility and fructification of the Earth. She cares about the Earth. She will organise protests about the environment. She is passionate and earthy. She knows how to shake her bits. When the Empress is weak there may be fertility problems, a miscarriage or abortion. Love and creativity is at a low ebb or non-existent. Gone are the exuberant colours - everything is seen in monochrome.
A stately figure, seated, having rich vestments and royal aspect, as of a daughter of heaven and earth. Her diadem is of twelve stars, gathered in a cluster. The sphere which she bears is surmounted by the globe of this world. She is the inferior Garden of Eden, the Earthly Paradise, all that is symbolized by the visible house of man. She is the fruitful mother of thousands. There are also certain aspects in which she has been correctly described as desire and the wings thereof, as the woman clothed with the sun. She is above all things universal fecundity and the outer sense of the Word. There is no direct message which has been given to man like that which is borne by woman; but she does not herself carry its interpretation.
The Empress flaunts what she has, power and passion among them, and these tools can be used as a weapon or to manipulate. The trick is in knowing how to use them, instead of letting them use you. Passion reversed is manipulation that leads to slavery. Passion proper is freedom. But both are passion. She is as much Passion—Fire—as she is the Fertility of Earth.
Fruitfulness, initiative, the unknown, clandestine. Love, beauty, pleasure, success, graciousness, elegance, luxury, idleness, delight.
Reversed Card meanings
Light, truth, the unravelling of involved matters, public rejoicings, vacillation. Inaction, frittering away power.
