THE FANDOM HIGHTIMES: SEVENTEENTH ISSUE!

CHLOE SPEAKS:
Out of all of the aspects of Fandom that I'm going to miss after I graduate, I think the radio might be one of the things I'll miss the most. It's difficult to think about getting news from people who aren't intoxicated, or hilariously abusinating the English language. This past weekend brought us one of the best broadcasts I've heard in a while, from Professor Rita Skeeter and her friend Bellatrix Lestrange, who seems to have been in town for the big dentist convention. I know I can't be alone in hoping that Mrs. Lestrange comes back for another visit, if only to share more delightful stories about our esteemed professor over the radio, right? It's just a thought.

PHOEBE SPEAKS:
Monsters.

We've all experienced or met creatures we'd call monsters. They may look different, or act different than we do---or than we expect them to.

However, there are times when the Monster you fear is actually the most likely to try to help you and the normal looking person is the real monster who is trying to kill you or your friends. Sometimes, the creature that you thought of as a monster becomes one of the best hopes for things to go right.

You would think that with as much of a diverse population as we have here at Fandom, we wouldn't judge so much on appearances.

You would think.

However, that still seems to happen, no matter how enlightened you think that you are.

I met a creature this weekend whom most would call a monster because of the way he looked or how he came into being. There was nothing monstrous about him on the inside where it really counted. In the end, it was this "monster" who ended up probably saving my skin and the skins of a few others.

Next time the "Monster" you meet might just be a hero or a friend in disguise.

The "Normal" person you meet could be the one who commits the worst deeds imaginable.

Appearances don't make you a monster or a normal person. Deeds and actions and attitudes do.

Keep that in mind and try not to make judgments based on appearances.

You'd probably be wrong in your judgment, anyway.

HEADGEAR, LEATHER, AND SKEETER-CENTRIC SNARK: A LOOK AT FANDOM'S FRIENDS FROM OUT OF TOWN
by Rory Gilmore

Weekends in Fandom are hardly known for their peace and Zen-inducing serenity. If we aren't invaded by zombies or snow monsters, we're subject to visitations from otherwordly creatures.

In the past, this has referred to our parents and loved ones. But this weekend, Fandom played host to a number of colorful characters from various worlds, all in town for what can only be determined to be some sort of convention for those in the dental/orthodontic/periodontal field.

Little is known about these folks from out of town. As best as can be surmised, there was an old schoolmate of Professor Skeeter's (and one might wonder if she, too, knows the famed Wilbur), a leather fetishist, a man unconcerned with public bathing, a child with a doll, women in any number of strange hats and some nefarious characters who attempted to steal a certain vampiric puppy were amongst the assorted members of this congregation.

Activities this weekend included seminars and a meet-and-greet, all held at the Arms Hotel. Though, these visitors were seen spotted about town, mixing it up with students and faculty alike (and trying to steal pets, oh em gee double ewe tee eff).

The conclusion that must be reached? Fandom, amongst its many, many quirks, seems to attract kinky dentists as well.

STUDENT COUNCIL ROUNDUP
compiled by Peter Parker

- The Junior Representatives are responsible for planning Fandom High's prom. Prom will take place on April 22nd. No word yet on a snark corner, but Professor Lyman will be chaperoning.

- There will be no Senior Trip before the end of the semester. The offer to have one after graduation stands, though.

- RISK Game Night took place on Saturday. Anakin, Aeryn, and Bridge dominated most of the world, but Rory hung on to Svalbard. And as Svalbard goes, so goes the world.

- The Finals Week Coffee Bar in the common rooms is a go. Come see your StuCo serving coffee on a different floor each day during finals.

- Poker Night is still set for two weekends from now.

So, there's probably shipping news and gossip to report this week, but judging by the great voter turnout, we realize you all only care about one thing.

The Girlkissy Poll.

There was a three way tie for the win. So, joining Bel & Angel and Logan & Angel at the Kissy Event are:

Cally & Kara
Aeryn & Callisto
Veronica & Callisto

We hope to see you all there and hopefully there will be a whole lot of kissing going on!

And, so we aren't remiss - the mountie is hot!

SENIORS! ONLY 3 WEEKS LEFT UNTIL GRADUATION!

As he was reading the paper, Peter was once again thankful for Chloe's editing. He was sure he had made a mistake or two somewhere but he couldn't figure out what they -- hey that's a lot of distracting girlkissy.

Xander blinked at the end of the shipping column a little bemusedly. Almost as if that fact had, in fact, just for a moment, slipped his mind. Huh.

Cally totally squeed a little when she found out she won.

She also muses for a moment over the fact that apparently people want to see girls with "Call" in their name kiss other girls...

Phoebe was also happy to see that Cally won.

Pippi was happy for Cally.

Xander totally made little non-dirty fist-pumping motions, because yay, no giant puppy eyes of dooooooom at him, and Aeryn/Cal.

And his player got to breathe a sigh of relief over the fact that someone totally forgot to actually vote in the poll, though ICly he voted Cally/Kara.

And Anders would've paid Xander, if he'd known that.

Despite his own feelings about the kissing event, Bel was at least happy to see that one of his nominated couples made the finals.

Anders picks up his copy of the paper, skims through it to get to the poll results . . .

And promptly has to run back to his room.

As fast as possible.

[*snicker* he'll be in his bunk, huh?]

[OOC: Before and afterward? Oh, you betcha. But he's so not missing out on a chance to get a front-row seat for the event.]

Three girlkissy events?

Pip was starting to reconsider his stance on atheism.

Aeryn totally throws a fit. A quiet fit, but zomg.
