THE FANDOM HIGHTIMES: Volume 5, Fifth Edition

Dear Reader,
The leaves are changing, there's a chill in the air and candy is on sale everywhere. Autumn is in full swing and brings with it a host of fun holidays that some of you may be experiencing for the first time. This weekend is Halloween which has evolved into an excuse to dress up in clothes we normally wouldn't wear and gorge ourselves on sugary treats.
As you're coming down from your sugar highs, start thinking ahead to the next big holiday: Thanksgiving. I know there are plenty of things I am thankful for since coming to Fandom and I suspect the rest of you do as well.
Feel free to write in and share what you're thankful for! We may use your answers in upcoming editions of the paper.
~ J. Girardi

Cooking Made Easy
It only seemed appropriate to share a recipe using pumpkin for Halloween. And who doesn't like pumpkin pie?
- 1 unbaked 9-inch deep-dish pie shell
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 2 large eggs
- 1- 15 ounce can pure pumpkin (don't use pumpkin pie filling!)
- 1- 12 ounce can evaporated milk
Preheat oven to 425° F. Combine sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves in small bowl with wire whisk. Beat eggs lightly in large bowl. Stir in pumpkin and dry mixture. Gradually stir in milk. Pour into pie shell.
Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350° F.; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. Store in refrigerator.
Did your pie not come out as well as you hoped? Drop me a line and I'll try to help!
