THE FANDOM HIGHTIMES: Volume 4, Twenty-First Edition!

You would think that we'd start remembering to put toys in our rooms, after prom, wouldn't you? Of course, as soon as we do that, Fandom's going to know we're onto it and drop the kids on us some weekend that has nothing to do with prom at all. Just to keep us on our toes. (Life here makes a lot more sense if you think of the island as being very smart and really thrilled about messing with our heads. Think about it for a few seconds.)
It's always hard letting them go, but it's nice to remember that they've got happy homes and families to return to. It also helps that they didn't show up for Finals Week, although that makes me wonder if we would have gotten easier finals, if they had.
I know I'm not ready for kids yet, but I think if Fandom gave us the choice of keeping them, I would have. It's not just me, is it?

Congratulations, It's A...

You know, you'd think most of us would be ready for the annual 'let's give the island's inhabitants some random kids' weekend but, honestly, I didn't expect it. Sure, once they were here, I realized that, yeah, it was that time again but hell if I was preparing myself to be the sudden father of two kids. And, don't get me wrong, they were good kids, but man, I'd have purchased some peanut butter and jelly or something. As it was, those kids got by on crackers and cheese.
It was nice, though. Sure, these kids weren't the same ones as I saw last year but they were nice all the same. It's good to know that, in some places, I'm well adjusted enough to raise two kids with two different mothers. I can't see one happening but I can very definitely see the other happening. Let's just hope said not really the mother doesn't get a hold of his paper and wonder if I'm planning on coming down to see her and knock her up. She might cut precious things off me. Scary thing is, she knows how to do it.
After two years of this, I'm still not sure what the island wants us to know what with the randomly dumping kids on us. Use birth control? I figure most of us do that anyway. Get ready because one day, you're going to be the dad to a hyperactive, screaming child? There's really no preparing for something like that. Or just because the island is a bitch and likes to mess with us? I tend to lean towards that last one all things considered.
Next year, this is probably going to happen again. Of course, next year, I won't be here but I might be somewhere making real babies. No no, I'm kidding! I'm kidding. But, for those that will be here next year, have fun with your kids. Listen to them, take them out. Don't ignore them. Because, really, at some point in time, you had this kid. Somewhere, you're life is revolving around this kid. The you here can spare a weekend to take over. Everyone needs a break.
